OBDF 210A _ 01: Castle

Assignment: Castle

Assigned: Tuesday, September 10

Due: Tuesday, September 17, class start

01 BEGINNINGS

I had wanted my castle to be built so that I could later print it in clay. But I couldn't remember all the parameters and considerations I needed to keep in mind in order to do so - I am a beginner with the clay printing. So I went and found some inspiration in the previous POTW, looked at some precedents of clay castles and 3D printed structures  for a spike of dopamine and moved to sketching. From there I popped into Rhino.

02 RHINO

During the first attempt I made some overly complex shapes using some fun commands like twist and bend but lost all track of the composition of my castle. So took some sleep and got back at it the next day. Laid out some 2D spaces that I could visualize a castle or two extruding out of and started making towers. From there I tried to include the basics of a castle: a moat, windows, stairs, doors (no flag thought!). Then I got playful and added some floating things and a slide and a bridge to connect the two islands.
